Community Information Center (CIC) is an Oregon non-profit 501(c)(3) organized in 1978 to do interdisciplinary community research and education helping Oregon communities develop useful tools for growth, communication and services.

1978 CIC completed a major project, a CETA funded feasibility study to develop a geocoded database for Metropolitan Portland. 

198O-1987 CIC volunteers provided technical support to Northwest Neighborhood Federal Credit Union, a Community Development Credit Union, the (Portland OR) Central City Plan, Portland Office of Neighborhoods Mediation Center, SRO Housing (Los Angeles CA) Elders in Action program. As well, CIC provided volunteers for community development projects in San Francisco, CA: North of Market Planning Coalition and the Northeast Community Development Federal Credit Union (http://www.necfcu.org/).

1987-1995 CIC volunteers served on various boards and projects relating to community development, community media and public health. CIC media projects include:

• Housing for People with Special Needs
• Once Upon A Story Teller
• Positive Community Project PSAs
• AIDS awareness videos produced with street youth and in-school youth 

Additionally CIC provided a non-profit umbrella for several Regional Urban Planning educational projects  as well as the 20^th Anniversary of Portland Neighborhoods.

1991 CIC began to provide incubator services to new community organizations seeking non-profit status.

1994-present CIC focuses on providing technical assistance to other non-profits as well as developing consumer voice in health promotion, access and services through through collaboration with such groups as
