Description
Bent Communications was CIC's first venture into Community Media.
In 1988 through the facilities of Portland Cable Access now Portland Community Media several CIC volunteers attempted to produce what was then called a GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transsexual) news show called the Slightly Bent News. Only one show ever made it to air.
As an outcome of a Bent Communications participation in a community meeting during Pride Week 1989, a number of new GLBT projects started. One of those projects was the GLBT Video Access Project which recruited volunteers to get training to produce related video projects including a GLBT Portland travelog entitled A Strange Thing Happened... and public service announcements for related community events and institutions.
