    Description

    Our Mission:
Our mission is to significantly reduce the rates of recidivism in the Portland metropolitan area. We help our clients change their lives to become more productive citizens. By doing so, we are contributing to the health and safety of our local communities

Better People is an established employment and counseling program solely dedicated to helping individuals who have legal histories find, keep and excel in well paying jobs with fair, decent employers. We only accept job orders from companies that pay a minimum of $9 per hour plus health benefits.

What this means to you is that if you meet us half way by participating in our program, we will not try to place you in a job that does not pay you enough to live on.

Our counseling approach has helped thousands of individuals who have legal histories across the country. It may do the same for you.

Better People offers a complete package of support before and after you have been hired. Please review the following services:

    • Orientation to provide the merits of services to enable a potential client to make an informed decision regarding participation.

    • Cognitive behavioral therapy classes using Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT®)

    • After attending the first MRT® class, referrals for temporary employment.

    • After passing Step One of MRT® Job Readiness classes from a former offender’s point of view.

    • Once you reach Step Three of the MRT® process, assistance in gaining permanent employment paying a minimum of $9/hr. plus health benefits. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES, but the majority of clients who meet us half way end up in better paying jobs.

    • Once employed, retention services to help the client/employee remain employed long term.

    • Clients may continue to get job-placement assistance as long as they are active dues paying members of the Alumni Club. Alumni Dues are merely $25 a year.
