    Description

    • Community Reintegration Services (CRS) is a program in the Mental Health and Neurosciences Division at the Portland VA Medical Center (PVAMC)
    • CRS was designed to assist veterans in developing and maintaining the skills necessary to succeed in community living.
    • This program is for Veterans who are homeless or at risk for homelessness.
    • Many Veterans who seek services have barriers to community living because of part substance abuse, mental illness, and/or medical issues.

    Vocational Services

Veterans can access therapeutic work programs, job-seach assistance, job coaching, educational guidance, and vocational skill-building resources.  Veterans seeking job skills, training and job assessment will receive ongoing assistance.

    Outreach

Special efforts are made to contact veterans who may be incapable or reluctant to use the VA facilities. The CRS Program uses an Outreach van to meet veterans who face many challenges in making conventional access to services at the VA.

    Transitional Lodging Unit

The PVAMC has a 35 bed lodging program located on the Vancouver Campus. This program is designed to assist case-managed veterans with transitional housing for up to 45 days. Access to the PVAMC Lodger Program is arranged through a clinical provider willing to provide case management during the TLC stay.

    Community Shelter and Housing Programs

The CRS program works closely with a community provider to provide case management in local Portland Shelters. Veterans in need of emergency sheltered housing can apply for this program at the shelter located in downtown Portland.

    VA Case Managed Housing Programs

The CRS program maintains 160+ veterans in case-managed housing. These programs are designed to provide various types of housing for veterans with chronic issues related to homelessness. Housing options range from group homes to independent apartment living.
